The Scotland and Northern Ireland Branch holds three main events each year - a Spring Event (February/March), a Summer BBQ/Picnic (June) and an AGM and social event (October/November). These events are organised by a Committee who meet three times a year, in January, March and September.
If you have never been to a Branch event before, don't be shy: we will make a point of looking out for you, and will make you most welcome.
If you are interested in booking for any of our events, please contact the Scotland and Northern Ireland Branch Treasurer.
We are endeavouring to audit our membership contact details and will be taking the time during 2022 to contact anyone who has not responded to the newsletter request for their current contact details. We would be very grateful indeed if you could spare the time to either email (or call) our Secretary, Joyce Cattanach, on SandNI.Secretary@clan-macpherson.org or 01674 673569 to let her know your postal address, email address and telephone number. If we don't have the correct details for you, you will miss out on receiving our informative newsletters and fliers and details of not only Scottish Branch events but also Clan Macpherson Association events and other interesting information including updates from the Clan Museum.
Each year we endeavour to hold our Autumn Social Event in a different venue in Scotland to ensure that members have the opportunity to attend this friendly event. In the past few years we have been to Scone Palace in Perth, the Falkirk Wheel, the Dunblane Hydro, Calendar House in Falkirk, the Society of Solicitors Law Library in Edinburgh, the recently refurbished Clan Macpherson Museum in Newtonmore, the Glasgow College of Piping and at the V&A Museum in Dundee. This year we will be holding our Autumn Event in Perth with lunch at the Giddy Goose followed by a visit to the new Perth Museum to see the Stone of Destiny. For further details and to apply for tickets please see the latest Branch flyer: that can be downloaded from here.
In a break with tradition, and instead of the usual Burn's Supper, we held a Spring Event in 2024 as an informal way for members of the branch to get together. A ‘Bite and Blether’ was held in Edinburgh at the Sheep Heid Inn along with an afternoon of playing old fashioned skittles. We look forward to holding a similar event in Spring 2025.
The Scotland and Northern Ireland Branch Summer Picnic is a wonderful day out for all the family. A 'bring your own picnic' in a fun setting followed by the chance to take part in fun and games. The Picnic is a very relaxed and informal way to meet up with fellow clan members. This is an open event and we welcome Clan Macpherson Association members, families and friends to this most enjoyable day out. The 2024 Picnic was held at the Craigtoun County Park in Fife. Further details of the 2025 picnic will follow nearer the time.
